If you could just find an AP that would let you set up the stage, power everything up, and tear down all from home, that would REALLY be impressive! I hope you are doing well. we should catch up some time.

Okay I just have to say THANK YOU!!! For being such an awesome friend as usual and helping Rob out with the loaner phone so he too can get one of these iphones that you guys love so much! You'll have to show him all the tricks you've learned on it I'm sure. And BTW how cool is that feature on your phone that can mix the music at BB from the phone. That's so crazy cool! WOW technology amazes me!

Dude - you're right on! But I did recently experience 2 of the best live sound mixes I've ever heard - John Mayer and Radiohead. Everytime I catch John Mayer I'm floored by his sound - he must take a personal interest in it because it's not as loud as other shows but the clarity is unreal. While we're complaining about bad live sound, is it just me or is the "tell" of an amateur concert sound guy a kik drum that's lourder than everything else?

Good afternoon, I am a regular reader of Dave Stagl's blog and I recently saw your design for the guitar iso boxes. My church in Lawrenceville has been tossing around the idea of building these for some time and we really like your design. I have a couple of questions though regarding your materials.

First, It looks like there is a hinged cable management system in place under the sliding shelf. what is it?

Second where did you get you XLR floor boxes and what is the second floor box used for?

I think thats all I have for the moment, I really hope to hear back soon, it would be a great help. you can e-mail me at
christopher.blackwell@students.acc.edu
thanks so much for your time

Thanks for the insight Chris. I am always trying to glean info wherever I can.

While on a week to week basis I don't put as much time into rehearsing songs in iTunes, anytime a new song is thrown into the rotation, I do what I can to get familiar. Unfortunately we don't always have the ability to pull off songs the same way they are recorded. I try to get with our worship leader to discuss specifics of songs and how they relate to the abilities of the band for that service.

One thing I have started doing recently though, and has proven helpful to getting more accurate reproductions when possible, is listening to tracks in the room I am going to be mixing in. I hear things differently in my monitors in my office, in my ear buds, and in the main sanctuary. That may be partially due to problems at hand, but either way, hearing a song IN the system it will be played in live later makes a difference for me.

I dunno, maybe those are no-brainers.
